Sankt Laurent Tonneau 2019 from Christoph Hammel is a full-bodied, delicious and feather-soft red wine. It has aged for 2 years in both German oak casks and French Burgundy casks
The Sankt Laurent grape is most widespread in Austria and Germany. For a long time it was thought to be related to pinot noir. A DNA analysis in New Zealand determined, however, that it is a descendant of the pinot savagnin grape.
The wines from the grape produce powerful, velvety red wines with a deep red color and suitable concentration - if the harvest yield is kept low. In terms of taste, the wines are reminiscent of strong pinot noir wines.
In addition to Austria and Germany, the grape is also grown in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where it is known as svatovavfinecké and svatovavriencké.
This wine generally goes well with meat dishes, including beef, game and pork.
